Varicella-Zoster Virus Infection of Neurons Derived from Neural Stem Cells

چکیده
Varicella-Zoster virus (VZV) is a human herpesvirus that causes varicella (chickenpox) as primary infection, and, following variable period of ganglionic latency in neurons, it reactivates to cause herpes zoster (shingles). An analysis VZV infection cultures neural cells, particular when these have been obtained from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) or consisting highly purified neuronal cultures, has revealed much data may be neurobiological significance. Early studies mature cultured were mainly descriptive, but more recent homogeneous cell used both markers and advanced molecular technology. Two general findings such (a) neurons less severe, based on several criteria, than observed fibroblasts, (b) does not lead apoptosis contrast fibroblastic cells. Insights gained suggest severe initial lytic which are resistant apoptosis, likely facilitate pathological pathway latent state the ganglia.

Varicella-zoster virus infection of differentiated human neural stem cells.
Primary varicella-zoster virus (VZV) infection in humans produces varicella (chickenpox), after which the virus becomes latent in ganglionic neurons. Analysis of the physical state of viral nucleic acid and virus gene expression during latency requires postmortem acquisition of fresh human ganglia. To provide an additional way to study the VZV-host relationship in neurons, we developed an in vi...
متن کاملHuman Sensory Neurons Derived from Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells Support Varicella-Zoster Virus Infection
After primary infection, varicella-zoster virus (VZV) establishes latency in neurons of the dorsal root and trigeminal ganglia. Many questions concerning the mechanism of VZV pathogenesis remain unanswered, due in part to the strict host tropism and inconsistent availability of human tissue obtained from autopsies and abortions. The recent development of induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells pro...

Objective(s): Among several cell sources, adult human neural stem/progenitor cells (hNS/PCs) have been considered outstanding cells for performing mechanistic studies in in vitro and in vivo models of neurological disorders as well as for potential utility in cell-based therapeutic approaches. Previous studies addressed the isolation and culture of hNS/PCs from human neocortical and hippocampal...

متن کاملSeroprevalence of Varicella-Zoster Virus in Children from Shiraz-Iran
Background: Varicella–zoster virus (VZV) causes herpes zoster and varicella (Chicken-pox), usually a mild disease which is diagnosed clinically with few complications. However, in neonates and healthy adults it can have a severe presentation. Herpes zoster results from VZV reactivation later in life. Objective: To determine the seroprevalence of VZV in elementary school children aged 6-10 years...
